TINIYAK ng Department of Finance (DOF) na may sapat na pondo ang bansa laban sa COVID-19 kahit sa pagtatapos ng termino ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa 2022.

Sinabi ni Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III na naging masinop ang gobyerno sa pananalapi para magtuloy-tuloy ang paglaban sa pandemya.

“I don’t think we’re good only until six months. I think we are good beyond 2022,” ani Dominguez.

“So it’s not going to be easy, but because of the moves that you have made from 2016 to 2019, we are ready to handle this problem financially,” dagdag pa niya.

Ang pamahalaan ay umutang sa iba’t ibang financian institutions para tustusan ang pagtugon sa COVID-19. Sa datos mula sa DOF, nasa $16.26 billion ang nakuha nitong budgetary support hanggang noong Hunyo 25, 2021.

Ang budgetary support ay kinabibilangan ng financing agreements sa Asian Development Bank, World Bank, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Agence Française de Développement, Japan International Cooperation Agency, at Korean Export-Import Bank – Economic Development Cooperation Fund.

Ayon sa DOF, tiniyak ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM) na may pondo itong P45 billion upang ipambili ng bakuna para sa mga bata.
