TULOY-TULOY ang Bank of the Philippine Islands sa paglalagay ng cash sa mga sangay at ATM nito dahil sa lumalaking pangangailangan makaraang isailalim sa Enhanced Community Quarantine ang buong Luzon.
Ayon kay BPI president and CEO Cezar Consing, hindi dapat mabahala ang publiko na mauubusan ng pera ang mga bangko at ATM dahil sa COVID-19 quarantine.
“We are loading as quickly as we can. The BSP is trying to supply the commercial banks as quickly as it can,” wika ni Consing.
“Banks are in great shape,” aniya. “The real issue is the physical cash. We just have to make sure that we get physical cash to the branches and to the arms.”
Aniya, ang mga tao ay nagwi-withdraw ng cash at itinatago ito sa kanilang mga bahay kaya nababawasan ang halaga na nasa sirkulasyon.
“The closure of businesses because of the lockdown also means that the cash cycle has changed,” dagdag pa niya.
Ang BPI ay nagbigay ng 90-day grace period sa pagbabayad ng utang ng mga medical at frontline worker.
“Commercial banks can withstand the impact of the COVID-19 lockdown on businesses as bank capital ratios in the Philippines are so high,” ani Consing.
“The BSP has properly prepared banks for crises like these.”
