TOURISM SECRETARY INDUCTS NEW PATA BOARD

DEPARTMENT of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat inducted the reelected Board of Trustees of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Philippines Chapter, to serve for another two years.

The inductees are: Bob Zozo­brado, Tourism Industry veteran, as Chairman; Tourism Undersec­retary Benito Bengzon, Jr. as Vice-Chairman and Tourism Director Dakila Gonzales as Secretary Gen­eral; Marlene Insigne of Southeast Travel Corp. as Treasurer; and, Atty. Apolonio Anota, Jr. as Legal Counsel.

Onelle Verzosa of Hotel Ce­leste/ Boracay Tropics is Trustee for Membership; Teodoro Espall­ardo of Altabriza Resort Boracay is Trustee for Programs; Maria Paz Alberto of Ark Travel Express is Trustee for Education; Agnes Ma­capia of The Soleil Group is the Industry Liaison; Simon Ang of Celebrate Life Travel & Leisure is Government Liaison; and Isabel Garcia-Lee of Henann Hotels & Resorts is Trustee for Ways and Means. The PATA Secretariat is manned by Mikhaela de la Paz.

Being the leading Tourism or­ganization in the country, its main advocacy is to develop the culture of Tourism among the youth, which is why it currently has eight Student Chapters in Tourism educational in­stitutions in the country: Lyceum of the Philippines University (Manila), Far Eastern University, Enderun Colleges, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, PATTS College of Aero­nautics, De La Salle College of St. Benilde, Treston International, and University of Baguio.
