NALUSUTAN ng TNT ang paghahabol ng Meralco upang maitakas ang 108-99 panalo at kunin ang solo lead sa Group A ng PBA Governors’ Cup kagabi sa Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Nakakuha ang Tropang Giga ng key defensive plays mula kina Kelly Williams at Rondae Hollis-Jefferson sa clutch tungo sa kanilang ika-4 na sunod na panalo at 6-1 record. Nakasisiguro na ang TNT ng isang puwesto sa quarterfinals.

Naputol naman ang four-game winning run ng Meralco, na nahulog sa 5-2.

Nagbuhos si Calvin Oftana, itinanghal na Player of the Game, ng 25 points, 7 rebounds, at 3 assists, habang nag-ambag si Hollis-Jefferson ng 22 points at 9 boards.

Umabante ang Tropang Giga ng hanggang 14 points at napangalagaan ang kalamangan sa halos buong laro, ngunit nagawang tapyasin ng Bolts ang deficit sa tatlong puntos, 100-97, wala nang tatlong minuto ang nalalabi mula sa free throws ni Chris Newsome.

Nagtala si Allen Durham ng 26 points at 11 rebounds para sa Meralco habang nagdagdag si Newsome ng 23 points.

Subalit nalimitahan si Chris Banchero sa 10 points, naipasok ang apat lamang sa kanyang 16 field goals sa laro.
