BINISITA ni Adm. John Aquilino, Commander ng US Indo-Pacific Command ang Pilipinas para makipagtalakayan sa pamunuan ng Department of National Defense at Armed Forces of the Philippine kasabay ng pagdiriwang ng ika-70 anibersaryo ng RP-US Mutual Defense Treaty (MDT).
Sa naging pahayag ni Adm Aquilino, sinabi nitong ang alyansa ng dalawang bansa ay pagpapakita ng tiwala na naging sentro ng pagkakaibigan at ito ang kailangan upang makayang harapin ang mga hamon sa seguridad.
“Both of our nations have made it clear that we are committed to the alliance, and that we remain prepared to fight alongside and defend each other using all of our capabilities to preserve the region’s peace and stability.”
Malaman din ang mensahe ni AFP chief of Staff Gen Jose Faustino Jr. na binasa ni AFP Inspector General LtGen. Franco Nemesio Gacal, “the extremely volatile security environment that we are currently operating has truly brought an influx of novel and hybrid challenges that we, as our nation’s defense forces, must ceaselessly endeavor to confront head-on in order to fulfill our respective sworn mandates to our country and people. as we face the multifarious threats posed by this new and emerging security landscape, it is only imperative that we take active measures to further enhance and promote cooperation, communication, and mutual relations with our neighboring armed forces here in the Pacific rim, especially with our allies.”
Para sa AFP, ang pagbisita ni Adm. Aquilino ay isang magandang pagkakataon para isulong ang mutual security interests ng Pilipinas at Amerika kung saan ay binigyang pagkilala ng hukbo ang ginawang pagbisita kamakailan ng kanilang Chief of Defense.
Sa pagbisita ni Adm Aquilino sa bansa ay nagkaroon ito ng mga pagpupulong kina Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr., Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, at AFP Inspector General LtGen. Franco Nemesio Gacal na siyang kumatawan kay AFP Chief Lt Gen. Jose Faustino.
Siniguro ni Adm. Aquilino ang commitment ng Estados Unidos sa Pilipinas at sa Indo-Pacific Region.
Ayon kay Adm. Aquilino,ipinakita ng Pilipinas at Amerika na kapwa sila “commited” sa kanilang alyansa at handang magkasamang ipagtanggol ang isa’t isa para maitaguyod ang kapayapaan at istabilidad sa rehiyon lalo na sa West Phl Sea.
“This occasion is an opportunity to advance our mutual security interests and manifests both our Armed Forces’ commitment to the alliance even in the midst of challenges brought by the pandemic,” pahayag naman ni LtGen. Gacal. VERLIN RUIZ
