TATANGGAPIN ni graduating Ateneo Blue Eaglet Matt San Juan ang karamihan sa individual awards sa UAAP Season 82 Juniors Baseball tournament.
Nakatakdang igawad kay San Juan, isang first baseman, ang regular season Most Valuable Player award, gayundin ang Best Hitter at Best Slugger honors.
Gaganapin ang awarding ceremony sa Game 3 ng Finals ngayong araw.
Si San Juan ay may batting average na .471 at slugging na .706. Pinangunahan niya ang Ateneo sa top seed matapos ang elimination round na may 4-2 kartada.
“Being in my final year in the UAAP juniors it is extraordinarily special for me to deliver what is expected of me by my teammates. They expect me to do what I have been doing the whole tournament,” anang 17-anyos na nakalikom ng may pinakamaraming RBIs noong nakaraang season.
“Especially now in the championship in the final game of the season, they need me to do what I can or exceed what my teammates expect of me to lead them to back-to-back championships. “
Tatanggap din ng awards ang kanyang teammates na sina Zach Urbina at Kean Agcaoili. Si Urbina ang napiling season’s Best Pitcher, habang si Agcaoili ay may pinakamaraming stolen bases para sa season na may tatlo.
“Since this is my last year in UAAP juniors, I would like to leave in the most memorable way possible which is winning that gold medal,” wika ni San Juan, na bahagi ng NCR team na nanalo ng ikatlong puwesto sa 2019 Palarong Pambansa.
“The whole team has been working hard to be able to get where we are now and has been working hard to be able to get the win against UST to become back to back championships.
“So I would like to help lead this team towards our end goal since eleven of us will be graduating.”
Ang may pinakamaraming RBIs ngayong season ay si Regie Omana ng National University na may lima.
