NANATILING walang talo ang four-peat seeking Ateneo Blue Eagles sa UAAP men’s basketball tournament makaraang pataubin ang La Salle Green Archers sa pamamagitan ng second half breakaway, 74-57, noong Sabado ng gabi sa Mall of Asia Arena.
“Tough game,” sabi ni winning coach Tab Baldwin matapos na umangat ang Eagles sa 4-0 kartada sa season. “It was never comfortable until the end. The defense was solid in the game as was theirs.”
Ito rin ang ika-30 sunod na panalo ng Ateneo, kung saan ang huling talo nito ay kontra Far Eastern University, 63-60, noong Oct. 10, 2018.
Napalawig din ng Eagles ang kanilang winning streak laban sa Archers sa anim.
Ang La Salle ay huling nanaig sa Ateneo noong Nov. 29, 2017, isang 92-83 series-tying win sa Game 2 ng Finals.
Ito ang unang kabiguan ng La Salle sa ikalawang era ni Derrick Pumaren, at nahulog sa ikalawang puwesto sa 3-1.
