SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go continues his commitment to uplifting the lives of Filipinos as he sent his Malasakit Team to distribute assistance to low-income residents in various barangays of Bulan, Sorsogon, on September 16 and 17.
In a video message, Go emphasized the importance of unity and resilience amid the country’s current economic challenges. He encouraged Sorsoganons to continue supporting efforts to stimulate economic recovery and assured them that measures are being taken to provide relief and opportunities to those in need.
Go coordinated with Vice Mayor Chezka Robles and assisted 1,000 residents during a gathering held at Bulan Freedom Park. His Malasakit Team distributed snacks, basketballs, volleyballs, and shirts to all, and there were shoes and a mobile phone to select recipients.
Additionally, the national government provided financial assistance to the beneficiaries with the support of Go and the local government.
As the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Go encouraged residents needing medical assistance to visit the Malasakit Center at the Dr. Fernando B. Duran Sr. Memorial Hospital in Sorsogon City.
The Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, under Republic Act No. 11463, principally authored and sponsored by Go, institutionalized the program which offers a one-stop shop where patients can conveniently access medical assistance programs from partner government agencies. There are currently 166 Malasakit Centers in the country that have helped more or less 12 million Filipinos nationwide.
“Patuloy kaming magseserbisyo sa inyo dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo at ako ay naniniwala na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo ‘yan sa Panginoon, serbisyo ‘yan kay Allah,” underscored Go who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to Filipinos in need.
