UTOS NG MWSS SA WATER FIRMS: BILL PAYMENT DEADLINE I-EXTEND

INATASAN ng Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) ang concessionaires Manila Water at Maynilad na palawigin ang deadline para sa pagbabayad ng water bills ng kanilang customers hanggang sa katapusan ng Setyembre.

“In light of the current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) situation, the MWSS Board of Trustees has directed Manila Water Company, Inc. and Maynilad Water Services, Inc. to grant all residential customers a grace period of at least until the end of third quarter this year to settle their Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and Modified ECQ (MECQ) water bills,” pahayag ni MWSS Chief Regulator Patrick Ty.

“During this period, the concessionaires are to suspend water service disconnection activities, resolve billing inquiries and complaints, and provide customers ample time to update payments for accumulated water bills,” dagdag ni Ty.

Naunang itinakda ng MWSS ang deadline para sa pagbabayad ng bills ng kanilang customers sa Hulyo 31 para sa non-life accounts o yaong mga kumokonsumo ng mahigit sa 10 cubic meters.

Samantala, ang lifeline accounts o yaong kumokonsumo ng 10 cubic meters o pababa ay binigyan ng hanggang Agosto 31 para bayaran ang kanilang bills.

Ayon kay Ty, ang direktiba ay isinagawa bilang humanitarian at public health considerations sa gitna ng nararanasang COVID-19 pandemic.

Kapwa naman nagpahayag ang Manila Water at ang Maynilad ng kahandaan na tumalima sa direktiba.

“The company will comply and implement the latest directive of the MWSS, as we always have, extending payment and no disconnection until Sept. 30 to help alleviate the current plight of our customers,” sabi ni Manila Water communications head Jeric Sevilla.

Sinabi naman ni Maynilad corporate communications head Jennifer Rufo na, “We extended the payment deadline to the end of September. We acknowledge that our residential customers need more elbow room for the settling of bills that may have accumulated during ECQ, so we agreed to the extension of the grace period for payment to the end of the third quarter.”
