MAGIGING panauhin si Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chief of Staff at NSS Project Director Marc Edward Velasco sa ika-25 at huling session ng online National Sports Summit 2021 sa Miyerkoles.
“We’re now down to our final session and with that, we want to give our participants, our partners in developing sports programs in the country, a chance to see what the PSC does in the whole scheme of things in the sports community.” wika ni PSC Chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez, na kasama si Velasco ay sinuportahan at sinaksihan ang makasaysayan at best-ever performance ng mga Pinoy athlete sa 2020+1 Summer Olympic Games sa Tokyo, Japan.
Ayon kay Ramirez, mahalaga para sa PSC board na maunawaan ng stakeholders ng ahensiya ang mandato at papel na ginagampanan ng PSC dahil makatutulong ito para malaman nila “where we can help them in their own efforts for sports in their areas and own capacities.”
Si Velasco, na siya ring National Training Director ng Philippine Sports Institute (PSI) sa loob ng mahigit limang taon, ang nangangasiwa sa sports science at high-performance training.
Mula 2004 hanggang 2008 ay pinamunuan ni Velasco ang Strength and Conditioning Unit ng Philippine Center for Sports Medicine ng PSC na kilala ngayon bilang Medical Scientific Athletes Services Unit (MSAS). Nagsilbi rin siyang Strength and Conditioning Coach at Consultant ng Hong Kong Sports Institute (2008-2013) at ng Hong Kong Rugby Union (2015-2016). Si Velasco ay naging bahagi rin ng team sa likod ng tagumpay ni Hongkong Olympic medalist Lee Wai Sze. CLYDE MARIANO
