JINKY Rayo’s solo exhibit VIBRANTE on November 6-20, 2019, at the Galeria Alvero, features dynamic watercolor paintings that provide an opportunity for us to view the artist’s passion for the effervescent beauty of Philippine ornaments and flowers.
As the title suggests, vibrancy beyond the fascinating watercolor form and color fills out the entire theme but also delves into the enigmatic characters of still life objects and flowers as if they are portraits. This new collection of works presents the cultural significance of ordinary Philippine objects and flowers and the artist’s exuberant approach to it all that never fails to enthrall. Ms. Rayo heads the renowned group international Watercolor Society-Philippines.
The Bangon Mangyan of Mindanao is the beneficiary of the exhibit VIBRANTE, in partnership with Medical Ambassadors of the Philippines, their advocacy helps uplift the economic status of the tribe and provide medical aide and most of all extending the love of Christ Jesus. The advocacy also helps them create livelihood through a showcase of culture and by boosting their handcrafted products made of vine called “Nito,” thus preserving their dignity as a tribe.
VIBRANTE at Galleria Alvero takes as to a new sparky watercolor journey into the world of Philippine ornaments and flowers, inviting us to walk through the collection with a happy heart.
A SELF-TAUGHT ARTIST
CARINA ALEJANDRINO RAYO is more known as JINKY RAYO. She is a self-taught artist, born in Mati, Davao Oriental, a product of University of Mindanao, College of Architecture, Davao City.
She is now a resident of Biñan, Laguna. She started painting exclusively in watercolor. She has already participated in numerous exhibits in the international and local art scene. Her subjects are inspired by the colorful native people and tribal ornamentations from Mindanao, recently she is incorporating other Filipino ornaments and national symbolisms to promote Filipino identity and culture in her artworks abroad.
She is currently the president of Philippine Guild of Watercolorists and Country Head of International Watercolor Society Philippines.
