“It’s very important ‘yung Volunteers Program. We have an LOC (Local Organizing Committee) right now with about 80-plus people. But hosting this magnitude of an event, we do need a big group or a big pool of volunteers. We’re actually looking at 500 people to help,” sabi ni SBP President Al S. Panlillio.
Dumalo rin sa launching sina SBP Executive Director Sonny Barrios, Deputy Event Director for World Cup Erika Dy, at Volunteers Program functional area head Art Aro.
Ayon kay Aro, ang qualifications para maging bahagi ng World Cup volunteers ay “individuals who must be at least 18 or turning 18 by August 1 of next year, fluent in English and Filipino (with knowledge of a third foreign language a plus), fit to rendwork, confident and comfortable dealing with stressful situations and situations of conflict, fully vaccinated with proof of vaccination, and a Philippine resident.”

“The monumental task of co-hosting the FIBA World Cup 2023 including its final phase is upon us, and the challenge to deliver has never been as daunting. But we Filipinos have always been known to come together and unite for causes most worthy, and the FIBA World Cup 2023, I sincerely believe, will move us to showcase that quality to the rest of the world,” sabi ni SBP Chairman Emeritus and FIBA Central Board member Manny V. Pangilinan.
“I therefore invite every Filipino, from all walks of life, to be part of this global sporting event starting with the launch of its own Volunteers Program.”
