WOMEN’S RUN PH DARAYO SA ILOILO CITY

MATAPOS ang matagumpay at record-breaking edition noong nakaraang Okt. 20, ang Women’s Run PH ay darayp sa Iloilo City sa Nob. 10.

Ayon kay race organizer Nicole dela Cruz, mula sa 1,700 women runners noong nakaraang taon, ang huling pagdaraos sa UP Diliman ay umakit ng kabuuang 6,000 kalahok sa 1K, 5K at 3K runs.

Sinabi ni Dela Cruz sa Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum noong Martes sa Rizal Memorial Sports Complex na inaasahan nila ang kaparehong pagtugon kapag nag-host ang Iloilo sa unang all-women run nito sa susunod na buwan.

“Our goal is the empowerment of women through running and when you hold an event that is specific and designed for women you also help build their confidence,” sabi ni Dela Cruz.

“It was a big jump from 1,700 runners to 6,000 this year and we achieved this because we asked help from different communities and companies that support women,” dagdag pa niya.

Gaganapin din sa Enero 19 ang karera sa Davao City at plano itong idaos sa Cebu City.

“We try to make it friendlier and less intimidating and we hold free training runs in Metro Manila. We’re adding more elements to the run. People come in costumes like (Super) Mario and dinosaurs. It’s so inspiring,” pahayag ni Dela Cruz sa Forum na itinataguyod ng San Miguel Corporation, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, MILO, Smart/PLDT, at Arena Plus, ang 24/7sports app ng bansa.

Sinabi rin ni Dela Cruz na sinuportahan ng race noong nakaraang linggo ang cancer patients sa PGH. Aniya, para sa mga darating na karera ay pananatilihin nila ang 1K at 5K races upang lalong mahikayat ang mga beginner, kabilang ang mga bata at maging ang 60-year-olds.
