SINERTIPIKAHAN ng International Athletics Association Federation (IAAF) at ng International Swimming Federation (FINA) ang New Clark City Athletics Stadium and Aquatic Center sa Capas Tarlac bilang Class 1 facilities para sa hosting ng 30th Southeast Asia Games sa Nobyembre 30-Disyembre.
Ang sertipikasyon ng nasabing sports facilities ay inanunsiyo sa isang press conference na dinaluhan nina House Speaker Allan Peter Cayetano, Senador Christopher ‘Bong’ Go, Bases Conversion Development Authority CEO and president Vince Dizon, Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Bambol Tolentino, at Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) commissioners Ramon Fernandez and Arnold Agustin.
“It was just a dream before. But because of the build, build, build program ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte, natupad po ang dating pangarap lamang,” wika ni Dizon.
Ang sports facilities kung saan idaraos ang athletics at aquatics sa SEA Games ay itinayo sa loob ng 18 buwan.
