ZUBIRI MAGBIBITIW SA PUWESTO KUNG AAMYENDAHAN ANG POLITICAL PROVISIONS NG SALIGANG BATAS

IGINIIT  ni Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri na bababa siya sa kanyang posisyon kung magkakaroon ng Constitutional amendment sa political provisons.

“Wala po tayong political amendments… It will be my political head at stake,” ani Zubiri.

“At least sa amin sa Senado hindi namin ipapasingit ‘yan. If there will be a move like that, then I will resign as Senate President. It’s as simple as that. We guarantee, it’s only simple economic amendments, economic provisions, and para gumanda ang bansa at hindi para sa kapakanan ng iilang tao, lalo na sa mga pulitiko,” dagdag pa niya.

Inulit ni Zubiri ang utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na hayaan ang Senado na manguna sa pagsusuri sa 1987 Constitution sa economic provisions nito.

“Let’s say the (lower) house passes political amendments, hindi kami papayag. So stalemate. The President said in our meeting last week that very simple, let the Senate take the lead and adopt the Senate version. Very clear ‘yun. We had several witnesses, and the Speaker agreed,” anang Senate President.

Ayon sa Art. 17, Seksyon 1 ng Saligang Batas, “[a]ny amendment to, or revision of, this Constitution may be proposed by:

(1) The Congress, upon a vote of three-fourths of all its Members; or (2) A constitutional convention.” LIZA SORIANO
