12 WAGING SENADOR, NAIPROKLAMA NA

NAIPROKLAMA na ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang 12 nanalong senador kabilang ang limang balik-Senado, apat na re-eleksyunista at tatlong bagong mambabatas.

Idinaos ng National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) ang proklamasyon sa senators-elect Miyerkoles ng hapon bagamat sa katanghalian pa ng Hunyo 30 magsisimula ang kanilang panunungkulan.

Nanguna pa rin sa mga panalong senador ang aktor na si Robin Padilla na may 26,612,434 votes batay sa partial and official vote count ng NBOC.

Sinundan siya ng nagbabalik Senado na si Antique Representative Loren Legarda na may botong 24,264,969, broadcaster na si Raffy Tulfo na may 23,396,954 votes, at reelectionist Senator Sherwin Gatchalian na may botong 20,602,655.

Balik-Senado rin si Sorsogon Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero na may 20,271,458 votes, bagong pasok naman sa Kapulungan si dating Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar na may 19,475,592 votes, at nagbabalik-Senado rin na si Taguig Representative Alan Cayetano na nakakuha ng 19,295,314 na boto.

Samantala, naproklamara na rin sina Senate Majority Leader Miguel Zubiri na pang-walo sa mga botong 18,734,336 votes, Senator Joel Villanueva na may 18,486,034 votes, at dating senador JV Ejercito na may botong 15,841,858.

Panglabing-isa sa puwesto ang nag-iisang opposition bet na si Senator Risa Hontiveros na may 15,420,807 votes at ika-labing dalawa si dating Senator Jinggoy Estrada na may 15,108,625 votes.

Mataas na voter turn-out

Sa kanyang talumpati, binigyang-diin ni Comelec Chairman Saidamen Pangarungan ang malaking turnout ng mga bumotong Pilipino na umabot ng 83.11% ngayong taon. Maliban pa ito sa pinakamababang karahasang may kinalaman sa eleksiyon na umabot lang ng 16.

Sa kabuuang 66,839,976 registered voters, nasa 55,549,791 indibdiwal ang bumoto.

“As we usher in a new set of leaders from the local government units up to the national positions, I am proud to say that the Commission on Elections has successfully defended the sovereign right of the people to the democratic process of elections,” diin ni Pangarungan.

“Significantly, this is an election with a very efficient and flawless transparency server that received all election results in record time immediately after voting on election day,” dagdag pa nito.

“The swiftest transmission was witnessed by the watchful eyes of all representatives of political parties, the PPCRV, NAMFREL and other citizens’ arms,” punto pa ni Pangarungan. Jeff Gallos
