Umabot sa mahigit dalawang milyong international visitors ang bumisita sa bansa sa unang bahagi ng taong 2018, ayon sa Department of Tourism (DOT).
Sa datos ng DOT, lumilitaw na may kabuuang 2,049,094 foreign tourists ang dumating sa unang tatlong buwan ng 2018 na mas mataas kumpara sa 1,784,882 tourists lamang na dumating sa kahalintulad na petsa noong 2017.
Sa naturang bilang, nananatiling ang Koreans ang pinakamaraming naitalang arrival sa bilang na 477,087, kasunod ang Chinese na itinuturing na ‘fastest growing market,’ sa naitalang 371,429 arrivals.
“For the first quarter, it has been a tight contest between the Chinese and the Koreans. In fact, these two key markets, together with the Americans, already comprise more than half of our tourist arrivals,” ani Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo.
“Our target for the Chinese arrivals this year remains at 1.5 million as we strive for more quality tourists who spend more in the country,” aniya pa.
