KUMPIYANSA ang Philippine Triathlon Team na mapananatili ang Southeast Asian Games crown sa ikatlong sunod na edisyon.
Nagpakita ng kahandaan ang SEA Games-bound Philippine National Triathletes sa kanilang impresibong resulta sa 2019 ASTC Acaba Triathlon Asian Cup sa Acaba, Jordan noong nakaraang Biyernes.
Tumapos si 2017 SEA Games gold medalist Kim Mangrobang sa ika-5 puwesto na may record na 2 hours, 7 minutes, at 25 seconds, nasa ika-7 puwesto si Filipino-American Kim Kilgroe na may 2 hours, 10 minutes, at 20 seconds, habang pang-10 si 2015 SEA Games champion Ma. Clare Adorna na may 2 hours, 24 minutes, at 48 seconds, pawang sa elite women’s category.
Nasa ika-27 at ika-29 puwesto naman sina John Chicano at Edward Macalala, ayon sa pagkakasunod, sa men’s category.
Nasibak sina Mark Hosana at Andrew Kim Remolino makaraang hindi matapos ang karera.
Naniniwala si coach Melvin Fausto na madodominahan ng Filipinas ang lahat ng anim na events sa nalalapit na 30th SEA Games tulad ng ginawa nila noong 2015 at 2017 SEA Games.
Kumpiyansa rin si Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez na bibigyan ng matinding laban ng mga Filipino triathlete ang mga katunggali.
“Our athletes, through the proper management of their coaches and the national sports associations, have remained deep in focus as they aim for medal victories in the Sea Games, They are also aware that the 2020 Tokyo Olympics are just around. The SEA Games will be a takeoff point for some of them. Let us support their bids and pray for their victory,” ani Ramirez.
Sina John Chicano at Andrew Kim Remolino ang kinatawan ng bansa sa men’s Triathlon individual competition habang magtatangka sina defending champion Kim Mangrobang at Kim Kilgroe sa women’s individual gold sa event.
Sasabak sina Emmanuel Kimpan Comendador at Jarwyn Banatao sa men’s duathlon habang sina Jelsie Sabado at Monica Torres ang kalahok ng bansa sa distaff side.
