NAGHAIN ang Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) ng 84 reklamo sa Department of Justice (DOJ) laban sa mga pinaghihinalaang tax evaders na hindi umano nagbayad ng kabuuang P3.15 billion na buwis sa first half ng 2021.

Sa report kay Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III, target din ng BIR na makakolekta ng P1.54 billion na tax liabilities mula sa 17 kaso na nakabimbin sa Court of Tax Appeals hanggang noong Hunyo sa ilalim ng Run After Tax Evaders (RATE) program nito.

Sinabi ni BIR Deputy Commissioner Arnel Guballa sa kanyang report sa executive committee (Execom) meeting ng DOF na bilang bahagi ng Oplan Kandado ng ahensiya ay ipinasara nito ang 274 commercial establishments sa first half ng 2021 dahil sa iba’t ibang tax code violations, na nagresulta sa koleksiyon ng P1.014 billion na back taxes.

Ayon pa kay Guballa, noong nakaraang July 1, ang BIR ay nakakumpiska rin ng libo-libong Relx at Snowplus++ heated tobacco at vape products na ibinebenta sa ilang establisimiyento, sangay at kiosks sa  Maynila, partikular sa ilang malalaking shopping malls makaraang matuklasang hindi binuwisan ang naturang mga item.

Kinumpiska, aniya, ng BIR mula sa isang warehouse sa loob ng Technology Resource Center (TRC) compound  sa Pampanga ang kabuuang 27,132 pakete ng sigarilyo na walang internal revenue stamps o may pekeng stamps, gayundin ang isang motor vehicle, at raw materials at chemicals na ginagamit sa produksiyon ng sigarilyo

Nasamsam din mula sa isang warehouse sa San Simon, Pampanga ang 2.06 milyong piraso ng pekeng internal revenue stamps, dalawang cigarette-making at packing machines, at raw materials at chemicals.

“The estimated total excise tax leakage from both warehouses is PHP1.56 billion,” ani Guballa.
