BONG GO’S SUPPORT IGNITES DREAMS OF A YOUNG FOOTBALLER AT THE PACIFIC GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT 2024

WITH the steadfast support of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, chair of the Senate Committee on Sports, young Logan Jasper Nunez is poised to make waves at the Pacific Grassroots Football Tournament 2024.

The event, scheduled from June 7 to 9 at the GFA Training Center in Guam, USA, marks a significant milestone for Logan, a 9-year-old whose passion for football transcends the field.

For Logan, football is not just a sport. It’s his passion, a source of hope, and a conduit to a promising future. With determination in his steps and dreams lighting his path, Logan devotes numerous hours to refining his skills, driven by his profound desire to represent the country internationally.

Faced with numerous obstacles, Logan’s dream was on the brink of being unfulfilled until the timely intervention of Go. His unwavering support and the financial backing through the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) have been instrumental in turning Logan’s dreams into achievable goals.

Go expressed his commitment in a new statement, “Patuloy ang pag-alalay natin sa ating mga batang atleta, tulad ni Logan. Mahalaga ang kanilang pag-unlad dahil sila ang mag-aangat sa bandila ng ating bansa sa mga darating na panahon.”

As Logan prepares to compete, his story is a testament to the transformative impact of support and belief in young talents. With the backing of Go and the collective hopes of his supporters, Logan is on a quest to make a lasting impact on the field and beyond.

“Each of Logan’s efforts and successes not only symbolizes the strength and determination of the Filipino youth but also serves as a powerful reminder of our potential to excel and lead on the global stage,” said Go.

“These achievements underscore the importance of nurturing our young talents, providing them with opportunities to grow and succeed. It’s through their triumphs that we see the future of our nation becoming brighter and more promising,” he further emphasized.

Go has been a proactive advocate for sports development, taking significant legislative actions to support young athletes and integrate sports into national development.

He played a key role in creating the National Academy of Sports (NAS) by authoring and co-sponsoring Republic Act No. 11470. Located in New Clark City, Capas, Tarlac, NAS combines secondary education with a sports-focused curriculum, offering a dual path for student-athletes to excel both in their sports and academic endeavors.

In addition to his efforts with NAS, Go also introduced Senate Bill No. 2514, the proposed Philippine National Games (PNG) Act. This bill, which successfully passed the Senate on its third and final reading on May 20, seeks to institutionalize a structured national sports program that not only promotes grassroots sports but also aligns with the national sports development strategy.
