INAPRUBAHAN ng International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) ang kahilingan ng Philippine National Volleyball Federation’s (PNVF) para sa pagtatalaga ng isang Brazilian coach sa national women’s team, sa katauhan ni dating Olympic gold medalist Jorge Edson Souza de Brito.
“We are thankful for the FIVB’s quick response to our request and we are more thankful that the federation picked an excellent man for the job,” pahayag ni PNVF President Ramon ‘Tats’ Suzara.
“With coach Jorge’s vast experience as a coach and player, we are very sure that we will get the technology transfer we have aspired for.”
Si Souza de Brito ay miyembro ng Brazilian team na nagwagi ng gold medal sa Barcelona 1992 Olympics at kalaunan ay ginabayan ang Brazilian women’s team sa gold medal sa Beijing 2008 Olympics.
Ang 54-year-old na si Souza de Brito ay may malawak na karanasan bilang coach para sa ilang top clubs sa Brazilian league simula noong 2002 at nagwagi ng mga titulo at nakakuha ng podium finishes sa Turkey atbJapan.

Sinamahan ni PNVF board member Ricky Palou si Suzara sa meeting.
