SANTA ANA, Cagayan — Magbabalik ang Beach Volleyball Republic matapos ang two-year hiatus kung saan ang una sa dalawang legs ay idaraos sa isang bubble set-up sa Biyernes sa sikat na resort town dito.
May kabuuang 25 teams – 14 sa women at 11 sa men’s division – ang magbabakbakan sa Oct. 22-25 competition na magsisimula sa alas-8 ng umaga.
Ang second at final leg ay lalaruin sa October 28-31 sa parehong Santa Ana venue.
Kumpiyansa si Charo Soriano, isa sa BVR founders, na ang restart ay magpapalakas sa sport sa pagsisikap nitong masustinahan ang tagumpay sa 30th Southeast Asian Games noong 2019, kung saan ang men’s at women’s squads ay umakyat sa podium.
Ang BVR on Tour ay magiging bahagi ng paghahanda ng national women’s at men’s teams para sa Asian Seniors Beach Volleyball Championship, kung saan lalahok ang Pilipinas sa November 23-27 sa Phuket, Thailand.
“Apart from sports really trying to come back, I think right now the message that we want to give out to the public, the majority, and the audience, the stakeholders of volleyball is that sports is a catalyst of hope,” wika ni Soriano, na siya ring Beach Volleyball Chairperson ng Philippine National Volleyball Federation.
“By doing this, it gives a lot of hope to our community, to be more sprecific, thethe sporting community. Because we want to be able to show them that there are things that we still can do and look forward to even during the pandemic,” dagdag pa niya.
Ang women’s teams ay kinabibilangan ng Creamline, PLDT, TM, Biogenic, Eastern Communications, Toyota-Tuguegarao, Black Mamba Army, Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors, Boysen, Delimondo at Good Health-CDO.
Ang men’s team ay binubuo naman ng Creamline, PLDT, ARMY-FSD Makati, DeliRush, Tuguegarao, EVI Construction at Negros Occidental Beach Volleyball Club.
Ang mga laro ay naka-livestream sa Puso Pilipinas at Smart Sports Facebook pages at YouTube channels.
