PAIIGTINGIN pa ng pamahalaan ang intensified information dissemination sa federalism at Charter change.
Ito ang sinabi ni Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque makaraang lumitaw sa survey na mayorya ng mga Pinoy ay may kaunting kaalaman hinggil sa federal system of government.
Sa pinakahuling Pulse Asia June 2018 Survey in Charter Change and Federalism, 69 porsiyento ang aminado na kakaunti lamang ang kanilang kaalaman sa federalism samantalang 67 porsiyento naman ang hindi pabor na amyendahan ang 1987 Constitution.
“We would like to point out that only 55% of respondents have heard, read, or watched anything about the proposals to change the 1987 Constitution before the survey was conducted or only during the time the survey was held,” sabi ni Roque.
“For this reason, we cannot expect our people to support an initiative, which they know only little about,” dagdag pa ni Roque.
Naniniwala si Roque na sadyang tututol ang taumbayan sa naturang panukala dahil mayorya sa mga respondent ang nagsabing wala silang alam sa naturang usapin.
Ayon kay Roque sa sandaling mapalawak ang information dissemination ang taumbayan din ang huhusga kung papabor o tututol sa pagbabago ng Saligang Batas.
“We will therefore exert even more effort to inform and educate our citizens about federalism since the approval of the proposed changes in our current Charter ultimately lies in the hands of the Filipino people,” giit pa ni Roque. EVELYN QUIROZ
