MAGDEDEKLARA ng nationwide state of emergency ang Department of Agriculture (DA) dahil sa hindi makontrol na paglaganap ng African swine fever (ASF).

Ayon kay DA Sec. William Dar, ibibigay na nila sa Malakanyang ang kanilang rekomendasyon batay sa hiwalay na rekomendasyon ng Senado.

Maglalaan umano ang DA ng P1.1-bilyong pondo para sa repopulation program ng aalagaang baboy ng mga hog raiser ngayong taon.

Abot sa P400-milyon ang gagamitin nila sa pagtatayo ng mga breeder farms; P200-milyon sa repopulation ng mga lugar na apektado ng ASF na may “sentinel” approach; at P500-milyon para sa pautang sa mga backyard raiser.

Hindi umano patutubuan ang ipauutang sa mga hog raiser upang agad silang makabawi.

Kamakailan, naglaan na ang DA ng P1.5-bilyon para sa “Bantay ASF sa Barangay” o “BABay ASF.”

Nag-realign umano ng pondo ang DA upang masolusyunan ang problema ng mga hog raiser.

Liban dito, nakahanda na rin umano ang P15-bilyon mula sa Land Bank of the Philippines, at P12-bilyon mula sa Development Bank of the Philippines para sa loan program upang muling buhayin ang hog industry.  NENET L.                      VILLAFANIA
