NAGING interesado ang American investors sa bansa makaraang isabatas ang Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises Act (CREATE Act) ngayong taon, ayon sa Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Sa virtual Phi lippines-United States Business Dialogue “Cooperation for Post-Pandemic Recovery” kahapon, sinabi ni DTI Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo na ang CREATE law ay isa sa pinakahihintay na pagsisikap ng business sector mula sa pamahalaan.

Ayon kay Rodolfo, sa mga nakalipas na buwan, ang  Board of Investments (BOI) ay nakatanggap ng interes mula sa US investors sa mga sektor ng infrastructure, telecommunications, artificial intelligence, at manufacturing.

“It took us two years (to pass the CREATE), but it’s all worth the wait,” wika ni  Rodolfo, na siya ring managing head ng BOI.

Sa ilalim ng CREATE law ay ibinaba ang corporate income tax rate mula 30 percent sa 25 percent, habang pagkakalooban ng performance-based, targeted, at time-bound fiscal incentives ang mga investor.

Dagdag pa ni Rodolfo, ang second package ng comprehensive tax reform program ay makaaakit ng mas marami pang investments mula sa Amerika dahil ang US government ay pumihit sa ‘more resilient supply chain’ sa pagdagdag ng manufacturing bases sa ibang bahagi ng mundo.

Aniya, ang Filipinas ay maaaring maging alternative o complementary manufacturing base para sa US factories sa Asia.

Sa parehong event, sinabi ni US Department of Commerce Acting Undersecretary at International Trade Department Deputy Undersecretary Diane Farrell na ang pagtatayo ng resilient supply chain ay isa sa mga larangan na maaaring palakasin ng dalawang bansa ang kanilang kooperasyon.

“This is important now more than ever, especially as we look at the lessons of the global supply chain,” ani Farrell, patungkol sa restrictions sa kalakalan sa gitna ng COVID-19 pandemic.

Dagdag pa niya na, “both governments share the passion to develop our infrastructure for the future”.
