NAGPALIWANAG ang Department of Health (DOH) at Food and Drug Administration (FDA) kaugnay sa ginawang pagpapabakuna ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kamakalawa ng gabi, gamit ang COVID-19 vaccine ng Sinopharm.
Sa isang panayam sa Sta. Ana Hospital kahapon, sinabi ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque III na ang pagturok sa presidente ng Sinopharm vaccine ay sa bisa o sakop ng compassionate special permit (CSP) na inisyu ng FDA.
Ayon kay Duque, ito rin ang CSP na inisyu ng FDA para sa Sinopharm vaccines ng mga tauhan ng Presidential Security Group (PSG).
Paglilinaw pa ng kalihim, ang desisyon ni Pang. Duterte na magpabakuna ng Sinopharm vaccine ay batay sa prescription o payo ng kanyang doktor.
Matatandaang noon pa man ay sinabi na ng pangulo na “preferred” o nais niyang ang bakuna ng Sinopharm ang maiturok sa kanya.
Naniniwala naman si Duque na ang pagpapabakuna ng presidente ay makakatulong para mapalakas ang kumpiyansa ng mga tao sa COVID-19 vaccine.
Samantala, kinumpirma ni FDA Director General Eric Domingo na si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ay sakop ng CSP na inisyu nila kamakailan sa Sinopharm.
Paliwanag ni Domingo, ito ang permit na hiningi dati ng PSG bago pa dumating ang mga bakuna sa Filipinas.
Ayon kay Domingo, mayroong donasyong bakuna ang PSG mula sa China at inihingi ito ng special permit upang maprotektahan ang presidente.
“Ito ‘yung [permit na] hiningi ng PSG dati bago pa dumating ang mga bakuna dito sa Pilipinas. Mayroon silang donation from China at hiningan ito ng special permit para nga maprotektahan ang Presidente at mukhang ‘yun din po ang ginamit sa ating pangulo kagabi,” paliwanag ni Domingo, sa panayam sa radyo.
Sinabi ni Domingo na bukod kay Pang. Duterte, sakop din ng CSP ang mga asawa at partners ng mga miyembro ng PSG.
Aniya pa, sa kasalukuyan ay mayroong dalawa hanggang tatlong kompanya ang nagpahayag ng intensiyon na mag-aplay para sa emergency use authorization (EUA) ng coronavirus vaccine na dinebelop ng Sinopharm Group.
Gayunman, hindi pa aniya nakapagsusumite ang mga ito ng requirements sa FDA, kabilang na ang katibayan na sila ang opisyal na supplier at distributor ng naturang bakuna sa bansa.
