FIBERGLASS BOATS, LAMBAT PARA SA 100 MANGINGISDA

NAKATANGGAP ang may 100 rehistradong Navoteño fisherfolk ng 30-footer fiberglass boats at fishing nets mula sa local government unit (LGU) ng Navotas City.

Isinabay sa ika-14 na anibersaryo ng Navotas cityhood ang pag-turnover ng nasabing kagamitan sa mga mangingisda.

Nabatid nasa 448 fisherfolk din ang nakatanggap ng 540 fishing nets na may iba’t-ibang sukat at ang mga benepisyaryo ng fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) boats ay sumailalim sa training sa boat construction, repair, at maintenance na isinagawa ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.

Matapos ang training, nagtayo sila ng kanilang sariling mga bangka gamit ang mga materyales na pinondohan ng pamahalaang lokal at 13hp engine, fittings, at iba pang gamit na ibinigay ng BFAR.

“We started the NavoBangka-buhayan program in 2018 in partnership with DA-BFAR and we saw how it helped our fisherfolk gain a sustainable livelihood. Hopefully, we will have our next batch soon,” ayon kay Cong.John Rey Tiangco.

Ipinaalala rin ng mambabatas sa mga benepisyaryo na tulungan panatilihing malinis ang kapaligiran.

Ang Navotas ay mayroong 9,000 rehistradong mangingisda at ang mga benepisyaryo sa NavoBangka-buhayan program ay may kasamang mga re­histradong mangingisda na itinuturing na “poorest of the poor.”

Kinakailangan silang sumailalim at makapasa sa drug test, at dapat mapanatili good moral standing. VICK TANES
