TINANGGAP ni Rudy Gobert ang five-year, $205 million extension sa Utah Jazz.
Ang three-time All-NBA center ay eligible na tumanggap ng kaparehong $228 million deal ni Giannis Antetokounmpo sa Milwaukee Bucks, subalit sinabi niya na kinuha niya ang mas mababa para bigyan ang Jazz ng ‘flexibility’ na buuin ang lineup.
“I want to win, and I feel like leaving this money on the table for the team just to be able to have better talent around me and Donovan (Mitchell) was really important,” sabi ni Gobert.
“I want to win, and I believe in this group and I believe in this organization, and I was willing to leave that money on the table for them.”
Sa pagbibigay sa kanya ng pinakamalaking deal na iginawad sa isang center, sinabi ni Gobert na nagpapakita lamang ito ng tiwala mula ss koponan
“It means that they believe in me,” ani Gobert.
“They believe in what we’ve been building over the years with this whole organization, with coach (Quin Snyder) and all the guys.”
Bukod sa kanyang All-NBA accolades, si Gobert ay dalawang beses na naging Defensive Player of the Year, apat na beses na napabilang All-Defensive teams at naging All-Star noong nakaraang season, kung saan may average siya na 15.1 points, 13.5 rebounds at 2.0 blocks.
Ang 27th overall pick noong 2013, si Gobert ay may average na 11.7 points, 11.0 rebounds at 2.2 blocks sa 474 career games (382 starts), pawang sa Utah.
Sisimulan ng Jazz, 3-0 sa preseason play, ang regular season sa Portland Trail Blazers sa Miyerkoles.
