HAYAANG MAGTRABAHO ANG COMELEC OFFICIALS – KOKO

TINIYAK  ni PDP-Laban President Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III sa Commission on Elections (Comelec) na iimbestigahan ng partido at aaksiyunan ang ulat na isang kandidatong bokal ng PDP-Laban ang nanampal sa election officer ng komisyon na nagtatanggal ng hindi maayos na campaign materials.

“Let me state for the record that PDP-Laban supports all Comelec efforts to crack down on election offenses,” ayon sa reeleksiyonistang senador mula sa Mindanao. “Election officers should be allowed to do their jobs and remove all illegally-posted campaign materials. All of these should be taken down, regardless of who the candidate is.”

“I have always been an advocate for electoral reforms, and these will only be possible if the Comelec is allowed to perform its mandate without fear,” dagdag ni Pimentel na tagapangulo ng Senate Committee on Electoral Reforms and People’s Participation.

Idiniin ni Pimentel na kaagad iimbestigahan ng  PDP-Laban ang aksiyon ni Tarlac Board Member candidate Atty. Marty Franz Toralba kung totoong sinampal nito si Tarlac Election Officer Teddy Mariano at kapag napatunayan ay hindi siya mangingiming sibakin ito sa partido.

“There is no place in the party for candidates who physically attack individuals who are just performing their duties. As a lawyer, Atty. Toralba should know that if he disagrees with the actions of Mr. Mariano, there are proper remedies under the law,” diin ni Pimentel na nagtapos ng abogasya sa University of the Philippines at nanguna sa Bar examinations noong 1990.

“Resorting to physical force was unnecessary and unjustifiable. Comelec should file the appropriate charges and hold him accountable for his actions,” dagdag ni Pimentel.
