MULING nanawagan si outgoing National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Karl Chua para sa full implementation ng face-to-face classes upang mapabilis ang pagbangon ng ekonomiya ng bansa.

Sa isang virtual briefing, sinabi ni Chua na tiwala siya na papayagan ng susunod na administrasyon ang total resumption ng in-person classes.

Aniya, masyado nang napag-iiwanan ang sektor ng edukasyon dahil hindi pa ipinatutupad ang full resumption ng face-to-face classes.

“As you know, the NEDA mandate covers development and for us, education is a foundation of development, so I hope this will be taken very seriously,” sabi ni Chua.

“The repercussions on children’s present and future development are very much affected by the ability to learn better,” dagdag pa niya.

Noong nakaraang Marso ay ipinunto ni Chua na ang muling pagbubukas ng mga eskuwelahan ay makalilikom ng P12 billion kada linggo at inaasahang P11 trillion ang mababawi mula sa productivity losses.

Sinabi pa ng outgoing NEDA chief na tinalakay na niya ang kanyang panawagan para sa total resumption ng in-person classes kina Education Secretary Leonor Briones at Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.

“I have personally wrote Secretary Briones and Secretary Duque twice — in March and in May, and we have had many discussions in the IATF and through messages,” aniya.

“These have been communicated and I hope it will be part of the transition message or notes of Secretary Briones to incoming Vice President and (Education) Secretary (Sara) Duterte.”

Nauna na ring sinabi ni Briones na inaasahan ng DepEd ang pagbabalik ng lahat ng eskuwelahan sa face-to-face classes sa susunod na school year.
