MAY kabuuang $4.66 billion na public sector foreign borrowings ang inaprubahan ng Monetary Board sa third quarter ng 2021, ayon sa Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas ( BSP).
Ang halaga ay kinabibilangan ng bond issuance na may kabuuang $4 billion, 3 project loans na nagkakahalagang $855.94 million, at 2 program loans na nagkakahalagang $800 million.
Ayon sa BSP, popondohan ng borrowings ang general financing requirements ng bansa, gayundin ang reform programs sa youth employment at financial sector, disaster resilience, ayuda sa agriculture sector at emergency response.
“Under Section 20, Article VII of the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, prior approval of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), through the MB, is required for all foreign loans to be contracted or guaranteed by the Republic of the Philippines,” anang BSP.

Hanggang noong Agosto 2021, ang bansa ay may kabuuang utang na P11.64 trillion, bahagyang mas mataas sa P11.61 trillion noong Hulyo.
Sa kabuuan, ang utang ay lumobo ng P32.05 billion o 0.28 percent dahil sa domestic debt issuance bilang bahagi ng government financing, ayon sa Bureau of the Treasury (BTr).
