NAKATANGGAP na ang Philippine digital banking sector ng mahigit sa USD700 million investments mula sa global at local investors magmula noong 2021.
Sa isang statement, sinabi ng Digital Bank Association of the Philippines (DiBA PH) na lumago rin ang bilang ng mga depositor sa 5.9 million hanggang noong katapusan ng 2023 habang tumaas din ang deposito sa P69 billion mula P35 billion noong 2022.
Ayon sa DiBA PH, tumaas din ang gross total loan portfolio sa halos P25 billion sa nasabing panahon mula P11 billion noong 2022.
“The significant and continued investment in the digital banking industry sector is a strong vote of confidence in its ability to stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and broaden access to savings and credit,” wika ni DiBA PH and Maya Bank President Angelo Madrid.
Noong 2021 ay lumikha ang Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) ng bagong digital banking category upang palakasin ang financial services sa bansa at tinampukan ng pagpasok ng anim na bangko.
Sa kasalukuyan ay may anim na BSP-licensed digital banks sa Pilipinas na kinabibilangan ng GoTyme Bank, Maya Bank, Overseas Filipino Bank (OF Bank), Tonik Digital Bank, UnionDigital Bank, at UNO Digital Bank.
