LABIS na ikinagalak ng dalawang ranking officials ng Kamara ang pagbibigay-pansin ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa kanyang huling State of the Nation Address (SONA) sa sinapit at kasalukuyang kalagayan ng libo-libong pamilyang naapektuhan ng madugong Marawi City siege.

Kasabay ng pag-asang tatalima sa tagubilin ni Presidente Duterte ang mga kinauukulang ahensiya ng pamahalaan na bilisan ang rehabilitation program sa nasabing lungsod, umaasa sina Deputy Speaker Mujiv Hataman (Lone Dist. Basilan) at House Committee on Muslim Affairs Vice-Chairperson Rep. Amihilda Sangcopan (Anak Mindanao party-list) na maresertipikahan bilang urgent measure ng Malakanyang ang Marawi Compensation Bill.

“Kailangan po ng tulong ng ating mga kababayan sa Marawi (City) sa kanilang pagbangon, lalo na sa pagpapagawa ng kanilang mga nasirang tahanan. Ito na sana ang isa sa maiwang legacy ni Pangulong Duterte sa mga kapwa n’ya taga-Mindanao,” sabi ni Hataman.

Tila nabitin naman ang Muslim Deputy Speaker sa kung ano ang policy statement ng Chief Executive, partikular kung pabor ba ito o hindi sa extension ng Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) transition government.

“I was hoping also for a policy statement on BARMM, kung siya ay pabor sa extension ng BARMM transition o hindi. I sincerely hope the President can communicate his position to Congress about this issue, so we may proceed with dispatch on the legislative side,” ayon pa kay Hataman.

Sinabi naman ni Sangcopan na inaabangan din niya kung ano ang ipahahayag ni Pangulong Duterte hinggil sa hirit na pagpapaliban ng eleksiyon sa BARMM.

“The absence of it, however, for me, signifies that the President is leaving it up to Congress to decide the fate of the extension of the transition period. As legislators, it is incumbent upon us that we firstly exhaust all means to understand the need of the extension before we pass judgment,” anang AMIN party-list lady solon. ROMER R. BUTUYAN
