NAGPALABAS ang Department of Agriculture–Cordillera sa pamamagitan ng Regulatory Divison ng kabuuang P1,445,000 indemnification fund para sa 100 African Swine Fever (ASF)-affected hog raisers mula sa lalawigan ng Kalinga noong nakaraang Abril 23-24, 2021.

Ang mga apektadong swine raisers ay 38 mula sa Pinukpuk, 14 sa Balbalan, 31 sa Tabuk City at 17 sa Rizal na may 311 swine na kinatay. Ang grant ay nagkakahalagang P5,000 para sa bawat ulo na pinatay na may maximum na 20 heads per owner.

Sinabi ni Dr. Mariano Dunwan, Kalinga Provincial Veterinary Officer, na ang cash assistance ay malaking tulong sa livestock raisers sa lalawigan na naapektuhan ng ASF para makapagsimula sila ng kanilang kabuhayan.

Hinikayat din niya ang mga raiser na mag-invest sa iba pang livelihood activities bukod sa pag-aalaga ng baboy.

Labis naman ang pasasalamat ng mga hog raiser mula sa  Tuga, Tabuk City sa pagsisikap ng lokal na pamahalaan na maabot sila.

“We are so thankful for the program for helping hog raisers in our province,” anila.

Para ngayong buwan, ang DA-CAR ay mamamahagi ng karagdagang indemnification funds na nagkakahalaga ng  P6,080,000 sa Ifugao province na may 169  apektadong hog raisers at P810,000 para sa Benguet na may 87 apektadong raisers.

Noong 2020, may kabuuang P6.5 million ASF indemnification funds ang ipinamahagi sa lalawigan ng Benguet at Ifugao na may 156 farmer-beneficiaries.
