KUNG may award na best speech, siguradong panalo ang impromptu speech ni Kathryn Bernardo nang
tanghalin siya bilang Best Actress sa nakalipas na 35th PMPC Star Awards for Movies noong June 2 sa Resorts World Manila. Marami ang humanga sa speech ng dalaga. Suddenly, she has metamorphosed into a lovely woman with confidence and maturity which is quite rare among the young stars of her generation.
The young actress truly had her shining moment kahit pa naging highlight ng awards night ang pagkilala sa mga “Natatanging Bituin Ng Siglo” na sina Tirso Cruz III, Christopher De Leon, Eddie Garcia, Niño Muhlach, Ramon Revilla, Sr, Gloria Romero, and Philip Salvador. (Hindi nakadalo ang ilang awardees na sina Vilma Santos, Nora Aunor, Anita Linda at Joseph Estrada for various valid reasons). This special award is in line with the centennial celebration of Philippine Cinema.
All eyes and ears were focused on Kath as she accepted the award which she tied with Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo, who also missed receiving her trophy personally. Sayang at ‘di siya nakarating. Inaabangan din kasi ng marami ang magiging reaksiyon nito dahil first time din niyang manalo bilang Best Actress dahil sa kanyang epektibong pagganap sa ‘Miss Granny.’
Katulad ni George sa ‘The Hows of Us,’ Kathryn has definitely become an empowered woman at the 2019 PMPC award, one of the most memorable awards night in recent years.
“Ang dami kong whys last year before we shot ‘The Hows of Us.’ And then ‘yung pinakabaon na natutunan ko siguro while making this film and ‘yung itinuro sa akin ng universe, is that life is not perfect. It doesn’t always go the way we want it to be. Itong award na ito, this is a validation that true dedication really does pay off,” Kathryn said.
Kahit hindi naging madali any journey nito bilang actress, sinabi ni Kathryn na hindi siya sumuko upang makamit ang kanyang life-long dream.
“Napatunayan din nito na it’s okay not to be okay sometimes. It’s okay to get tired in the process. It’s okay to fail even kasi la-hat iyan, part ng journey natin. What’s important is you stand up and you try again until you make that dream a reality,” she said.
Bukod sa kanyang pamilya at boyfriend na si Daniel Padilla, inalay din ni Kath ang first acting award sa lahat ng nangangarap.
“Lahat ng nandito ngayon at sa lahat ng nanonood, it’s okay to dream big… ang important is you try, and try again kahit na mag-fail ka. Just try again. Always remember that you will always have a shot at making that dream come true. Para sa lahat ng nangangarap, para din sa inyo ito,” she said.
At dahil tapos na tayo mag-present ng award, nasa audience na ang karamihan sa PMPC members at nakapanood ng awards proceeding. Habang nag-e-emote ang kalahati ng Kathniel, na siya ring nagwagi bilang Movie Loveteam of the Year, ngiting panalo rin naman ang Daniel kahit abalang-abala sa pagkuha ng larawan at video ng kasintahan.
