SINIBAK ng defending champion Barangay Ginebra ang Magnolia sa pamamagitan ng 106-80 paglampaso sa Game 2 ng kanilang best-of-three quarterfinals series sa PBA Commissioner’s Cup kagabi sa Araneta Coliseum.
Nanguna si Justin Brownlee na may 30 points, kabilang ang 3 triples, 9 rebounds at 6 assists upang siguruhin ang pagpasok ng Gin Kings sa semifinals.
“It’s a great game. I thank our supporters for their support to the team,” sabi ni Brownlee, na target ang ‘Best Import of the Conference’ award.
Naglaro rin si Mark Caguioa ng quality minutes para sa Ginebra sa pagkamada ng 12 points sa 5-of-5 field goal shooting sa loob lamang ng 14 minuto.
Tulad sa Game 1 ay pinaglaruan ng Kings ang Hotshots at ipinoste ang pinakamalaking kalamangan sa 33 points, 93-60, sa 6-0 run, apat kay Caguioa at dalawa kay Greg Slaughter.
Ang impresibong panalo ay maliwanag na pagpapakita ng Barangay Ginebra sa kanilang determinasyon na idepensa ang korona sa harap ng 7,895 partisan fans.
Bilang koponan, naipasok ng Ginebra ang 43 sa kanilang 81 field goal attempts, kung saan tumapos din sina Japeth Aguilar, LA Tenorio at Stanley Pringle sa double digits.
“I guess we just had a little bit too much firepower for them tonight,” sabi ni Kings coach Tim Cone.
“That’s interesting because we weren’t shooting the three-point shot well in the early part of the game. I think Justin was 0-for-6 and he was 1-for-5 last game so he was 1-for-11 in the series.
