SISIMULAN na ng Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) ang paghahanda para sa dalawang mahahalagang regional tournaments sa pagbubukas ng bubble training facilities sa Ilocos Norte sa Hulyo 1.

Sinabi ni PNVF President Ramon ‘Tats’ Suzara na ang training program para sa men’s at women’s teams ay agad sisimulan bilang paghahanda para sa hosting ng bansa sa Asian Women’s Seniors Championship sa Pampanga at sa Vietnam 31st Southeast Asian Games sa Nobyembre

“Training for the national teams officially starts on July 1 and we are very thankful that Ilocos Norte has agreed to adopt our national athletes who will be training in a bubble environment,” ani Suzara.

“The Asian championship and the SEA Games are priority events on the national team program.”

Ani Suzara, ang PNVF training bubbles ay eksklusibo sa Ilocos Norte at pinabulaanan niya ang mga report na nagtayo ang mga miyembro ng national volleyball teams ng training camp sa Baguio City.

“It’s not true that the PNVF has a training bubble in Baguio City,” aniya. “Maybe, certain reports that volley-ball players are in Baguio City weren’t confirmed at all.”

Kinumpirma rin ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chief of Staff Marc Velasco na walang national athletes na nagsasanay sa Baguio City sa kasalukuyan.

Ang Asian championship ay lalaruin sa Pampanga at Subic mula Agosto 29 hanggang Setyembre  5, ayon kay Suzara.

“At least 10 countries are expected to take part in this major Asian Volleyball Confederation and International Volleyball Federation tournaments,” Suzara said.

Samantala, ang SEA Games ay gaganapin sa Nobyembre 21 hanggang Disyembre 2 sa Hanoi. Nakatakdang desisyunan ng  Hanoi games organizers sa susunod na linggo kung itutuloy o iuurong ang kumpetisyon sa gitna ng banta ng COVID-19. Sa kabila nito ay sinabi ni Suzara na tuloy ang kanilang training program.

“The PNVF mindset is for the athletes —including beach volleyball — to focus on these international events,” aniya.

Ang national team ay may 56 members—20 men at 16 women sa volleyball at 10 men at 10 women sa beach volleyball. CLYDE MARIANO
