INISPONSORAN sa Senado ni Sen. Cynthia Villar ang panukalang P122 billion budget ng Department of Agriculture para sa 2019.
Sinabi ni Villar, chair ng Committee on Agriculture and Food, na ang panukalang budget ng DA ay 3.34 percent ng panukalang P3.757 national budget.
“We are hopeful, Mr. President, that the proposed 2019 budget of DA will realize our goal of lifting Fili-pino farmers and fisherfolks out of poverty. Particularly, rice and coconut farmers, who make up for seven million of the 12 million farmers in the country since under next year’s proposed budget, we have realigned PhP20 billion to pro-vide for standby appropriations for the rice and coconut farmers,” ani Villar sa kanyang sponsorship speech.
Sa kabuuang budget na P36.34 billion, ang nakalaan sa mga programa ay P15.70 billion at sa mga proyekto ay P14.97 billion.
Ang mga programa ay kinabibilangan ng National Rice Program, P7.41 billion; National Livestock, P1.05 billion; Na-tional Corn, P1.53-B; National High Value Crops, P1.48-B; National Organic Agriculture, P545.86 million; Halal Food Industry Development, P44.63 million; at iba pang regular programs, P3.63-B.
