INAPRUBAHAN ng Department of Agriculture (DA) ang P300-million na pondo para sa pagpapautang sa mga hog raiser para makabawi ang mga ito mula sa epekto ng African Swine Fever (ASF).

Ayon kay DA Sec. William Dar, maaaring makautang ang mga pig producer sa  “green zones” o mga lugar na wala nang ASF. Ang pautang ay walang interes, walang kolateral at maaaring bayaran sa loob ng limang taon.

“Gusto nating matulungan din itong areas na ito para continuous na madagdagan ‘yung imbentaryo po natin sa hog industry kasi we had 3 million hogs na na-depopulate as a result of the African Swine Fever,” pahayag niya sa  ANC’s Headstart.

Ang mga hog raiser ay maaaring makautang ng minimum na P200,000 para makapagprodyus ng 40 baboy at ma-upgrade din ang biosecurity measures kontra ASF.

Ang pondo ay bilang karagdagan sa repopulation program ng ahensiya, na may budget na P2.7 billion.
