INATASAN ng Department of Finance (DOF) ang Bureau of Customs (BOC) na paigtingin ang pagbabantay sa pagpasok ng mga imported na bigas sa bansa.

Ayon kay Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III, ang hakbang ay para matiyak na tama ang makokolektang buwis ng pamahalaan.

Dagdag pa ni Dominguez, alinsunod ito sa inilabas na Executive Order 135 ng Chief Executive noong nakaraang buwan hinggil sa pansamantalang pagbabago sa taripa sa mga imported na bigas na layong ibsan ang pagtaas ng presyo ng mga bigas mula sa ibang bansa.

Napag-alaman na bukod sa Thailand, Vietnam at Myanmar, maaari na ring mag-angkat ang Filipinas sa iba pang mga bansa na nag-aalok ng mas murang halaga, kabilang ang India. DWIZ 882
