HANDA na ang tourism industry ng bansa sa pagdating ng fully vaccinated international travelers sa Pebrero 10, ayon sa Department of Tourism (DOT).
Sinabi ni Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat na ang kaganapan ay pinaghahandaan na ng sektor magmula pa noong isara ang borders noong 2020.
Dalawang taon makaraang pumutok ang pandemya, idinagdag niya na karamihan sa tourism workers ay bakunado na kontra COVID-19.
“While this will be the first time the Philippines is opening its doors for foreign leisure travelers since the start of the pandemic, the tourism industry has prepared for this development for close to two years,” anang kalihim.
“We look forward to welcoming our foreign visitors once again especially with Metro Manila, the country’s main international gateway, placed under Alert Level 2.”
Sa kabila nito ay mahigpit pa rin aniyang ipatutupad ang health and safety protocols upang maiwasan ang hawaan ng virus.
“Tourism workers have been vaccinated and the observance of health and safety protocols at every destination remains to be a priority. The DOT will be focusing its efforts on the visa-free countries under EO 408 that are identified as our key, strategic, and opportunity markets,” aniya.
Papayagan nang makapasok sa Pilipinas ang fully vaccinated international tourists mula sa visa-free countries simula Peb. 10, sa kondisyong magpapakita sila ng negative RT-PCR test na isinagawa sa loob ng 48 oras bago ang pag-alis sa bansang kanilang pinagmulan.
Sa kasalukuyan ay may kabuuang 157 bansa ang nagtatamasa ng visa-free entry privileges sa bansa, kabilang ang ilan sa top tourist markets nito tulad ng South Korea, Australia, Canada, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, United Kingdom, United States atbGermany.
Kaugnay sa paghahanda sa mga destinasyon, sinabi ni Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) chief-operating-officer Ma. Anthonette Velasco-Allones na nakapagtayo na ang bansa ng 79 tourism circuits, na binubuo ng travel-ready places sa iba’t ibang rehiyon.
