FOREIGN INVESTMENTS PLEDGES

TARGET ng bansa na makaakit ng investments mula sa Europa para sa technology transfer at development ng renewable energy sector, ayon kay Department of Trade and Industry(DTI) Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo.

Sinabi ni Rodolfo na kinikilala ng European companies ang mga inisyatiba ng Philippine government na lumipat sa mas malinis at mas pangmatagalang pagkukunan ng enerhiya.

“They are very happy with the statement of the President (on) sustainability as a core objective for the Philippines. They are also happy not just because of the statements but because of the actual moves that are already undertaken by the administration,” ani Rodolfo, na siya ring managing head ng Board of Investments (BOI).

Kabilang sa policy initiatives ng Marcos administration para isulong ang ”cleaner sources of energy” ay ang pag-amyenda sa implementing rules and regulations (IRR) ng Renewable Energy Act na nagpapahintulot sa 100 percent foreign ownership para sa renewable energy projects, gayundin ang executive orders sa offshore wind projects at ang modification ng mga taripa sa imported electric vehicles (EV) at EV parts at components.

Dagdag ni Rodolfo, sa mga polisiyang ito ng pamahalaan, ang European companies ay may malaking interes sa energy projects sa Pilipinas.

“So, we look at Europe as source of technology and investments for renewable energy, in particular, of course solar and offshore wind projects,” aniya.

Sinabi niya na para sa offshore wind projects, may planong investments na USD2 billion per project at may capacity na 1.2 gigawatts. Aniya, may floating solar projects din na niluluto.

Ayon kay BOI director Eries Cagatan, ang Belgian hydropower firm Turbulent ay may malaking interes sa Philippine market dahil sa available flowing bodies of water dito na maaaring gawing koryente.

“(T)hey have pilot (project) in Mati, Davao Oriental, (and Turbulent) is a manufacturer of mini ecological hydropower turbine, which will not need dams but flowing bodies of water with minimal height difference and it can generate from 15 kilowatts to 70 kW per turbine. This can generate up to multiple megawatts in a network of turbines,” dagdag pa niya.
