NAHIGITAN ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang revenue target nito sa unang anim na buwan ng 2023 sa kabila ng mas mahinang import volume.
Ayon sa BOC, ang kabuuang koleksiyon para sa naturang period ay umabot sa P434.169 billion, mas mataas ng 3% kumpara sa collection goal.
“The increase in revenue was achieved despite the challenges in importation volume, which is negative 2.8% this year for high-value commodities,” ayon sa BOC.
“Furthermore, although the volume of oil increased by 9.9% this year as compared to last year, the revenue from said commodity declined due to decreasing value of oil in the world market—from as high as $1.1 per liter in June 2022 to just $0.63 per liter average this month,” dagdag pa ng ahensiya.
Samantala, ang anti-smuggling efforts ng ahensiya ay nagresulta sa pagkakakumpiska ng shipments na nagkakahalaga ng P23.8 billion, karamihan dito (P15.54 billion) ay counterfeit goods.
