BUMABA ang bilang ng mga walang trabaho sa bansa ng 5.69 percent sa 2.302 million mula sa 2.441 million noong nakaraang taon, ayon sa pinakabagong report ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Ang pagbaba ay nag­resulta sa annual unemployment rate na 5.3 percent ngayong taon kumpara sa 5.7 percent na naitala noong 2017.

“Among the unemployed persons in 2018, 75.2 percent belonged to age group 15 to 34 years old.  Those in the age group 15 to 24 years composed 44.6 percent of the unemployed while those in the age group 25 to 34 years, 30.6 percent in 2018,” nakasaad sa report ng PSA.

“There were more unemployed males (63.2%) than unemployed females (36.8%).  By educational attainment, 21.0 percent of the unemployed were college graduates, 15.9 percent were college undergraduates, and 29.0 percent have completed junior high school,” dagdag pa ng ahensiya.

Nauna nang sinabi ng local economists na tumaas ang employment rate sa bansa dahil sa paglobo ng bilang ng mga Pinoy na may low-quality jobs.

Ayon pa sa PSA, ang employment rate ng bansa ngayong 2018 ay tumaas sa 94.7 percent o 41.2 million Filipinos kumpara sa 94.3 percent na naitala noong nakaraang taon.

Ang labor force participation rate ng bansa sa 2018 ay tinatayang nasa 60.9 percent mula sa 71.3 million Filipinos  na may edad na 15 at pababa.

“This is equivalent to about 43.5 million economically active population comprising of either employed or unemployed persons,” anang PSA.

Noong 2017,  ang labor force participation rate ay nasa 61.2 percent ng 69.891 million population  na may edad 15 at pataas, o katumbas ng 42.77 million Filipinos.

Sa pagdami ng mga may trabaho sa bansa ay lumobo naman ang underemployed ng 229,000 katao sa 6.735 million mula sa 6.506 million na naitala noong 2017, ayon pa sa datos ng PSA.

“About 53.2 percent of the underemployed Filipinos or around 3.583 million were visibly underemployed persons or those who were working less than 40 hours a week. The figure, however, was 1.65 percnet lower than the 3.643 visibly underemployed Filipinso recorded last year,” nakasaad sa report ng  PSA.

Gayunman, lumitaw sa datos ng PSA na ang bilang ng ‘invisibly underemployed Filipino workers’ o yaong mga nagtatrabaho na ng mahigit sa 40 oras linggo-linggo subalit gusto pang madagdagan ang trabaho ay tumaas ng 11.07 percent ngayong taon.

Sa pagtaya ng PSA, noong 2018 ay may 3.071 million invisibly underemployed Filipinos kumpara sa 2.765 million na naitala noong 2017.

“By sector, 45.5 percent of the underemployed persons worked in the services sector, while 34.6 percent were in the agriculture sector.  Those in the industry sector accounted for 19.9 percent,” ayon sa PSA.  JASPER ARCALAS
