DALAWANG ‘hyperscalers’ ang inaasahang papasok sa Pilipinas ngayong taon, ayon sa Department of Trade and Industry-Board of Investments (DTI-BOI).
Ang hyperscalers ay global technology companies na nagkakaloob ng cloud at internet-based services, na nangangailangan ng malaking espasyo, power at connectivity sa mga rehiyon kung saan sila magpapalawak para bigyang-daan ang rapid IT scaling na susuporta sa kanilang customer base at user demand surges.
Sa virtual Philippines: The Next Strategic Hyperscaler Hub in Asia Pacific media launch, sinabi ni DTI Undersecretary at BOI managing head Ceferino Rodolfo na kasalukuyang nakikipag-usap ang ahensiya sa hyperscalers mula US at China.
Hindi niya binanggit ang mga kompanya subalit sinabing ang pag-uusap ay nasa “exploratory to advance” na.
“I’m pretty sure that within this year we could have at least one Chinese hyperscaler and at least one US hyperscaler,” ani Rodolfo.
“Within this year, at least we can have two hyperscalers coming to the Philippines,” dagdag pa niya.

“They’re also looking at the data privacy regulatory framework for the Philippines,” ani Rodolfo.
Sa kanyang panig, binigyang-diin ni Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez ang potensiyal ng Pilipinas bilang prime location para sa hyperscaler firms dahil ang populasyon ng bansa ay digital savvy.
“The immense potential of [the Philippines] is increasing. The Philippines ranked 6th in Facebook, 10th in YouTube, 11th in Twitter, and 18th in Instagram in terms of social media use globally,” ani Lopez.
“After being widely recognized as the outsourcing capital of the world, this is the natural next step for the Philippines, as our country now has all the necessary elements in place to make this happen. We have a thriving digital economy and a good economic profile. The digital readiness of our enterprises is helping propel our economic growth even further,” dagdag pa ng kalihim.
