BUMAGSAK ang presyo ng manok sa farm level sa P70-per-kilogram level kung saan patuloy na mas malaki ang produksiyon kaysa pangangailangan ng mga consumer, ayon sa United Broiler Raisers Association (Ubra).
Sinabi ni Ubra President Elias Jose Inciong na ang farm-gate price ng manok nitong Agosto 21 ay nasa P78 hanggang P83-per-kg range kung saan ang pinakamababa ay naitala sa P70.
Aniya, ang masaklap, sa ilang bahagi ng Central Luzon, ang manok ay ibinebenta na below P70-per-kg quotation.
“Demand is soft. Farm performance improved hence an increase in supply. It can still move much lower,” wika ni Inciong.
“I don’t know how long this will last. Demand will be the decisive factor as supply continues to improve,” dagdag pa niya.
Sinabi ni Inciong na sa kasalukuyan ay bumabaha ang supply, partikular sa off-sized broiler, na may timbang na 1.40 kg hanggang 1.49 kg.
“The higher supply volume is driven by favorable conditions as there was no disruptions at the production side,” aniya pa.
Anang Ubra chief, mas mababa pa sana ang farm-gate price kung sapat ang fish supply sa merkado.
Dagdag pa niya, ang mataas na retail price ng manok ay nakapagpabawas din sa demand para sa karne.
“It’s just that this time of the year demand overall is usually low. There is no shift [in demand.] In fact, if fish supply were normal broiler farm gate would be lower,” aniya.
“Expensive retail is, of course, a factor. The velocity of the product would be faster if retail reflects farmgate.” JASPER ARCALAS
