IPINAMALAS ni Diamond Stone ang kanyang galing sa opensiba at pinangunahan ang San Miguel sa 113-105 panalo laban sa Rain or Shine sa PBA Commissioner’s Cup kagabi sa PhilSports Arena sa Pasig City.

Tumapos si Stone na may 42 points at 13 rebounds upang makabawi mula sa kanyang 20-point, eight-rebound debut sa 106-109 pagkatalo sa Blackwater noong nakaraang Miyerkoles.

“I thought I’ve adjusted well. Coach (Leo Austria) did a great job this week after the first game of getting me adjusted, getting me the plays,” sabi ni Stone, na bumuslo ng 17-of 29 mula sa field.

“Coach told me before the game, in practice,’ Don’t be shy, be aggressive’ and so that’s what I did today,” dagdag ng dating NBA campaigner. “You know, try to be aggressive and try to go for the win.

“In (his) first game, it was really hard for him because he’s had no practice with the team, he doesn’t know his team, he doesn’t know our system and worse he doesn’t know the kind of basketball we have here,” sabi ni Austria.

“But I’m happy today with his game. It seems he realized na he needs to perform.”

Nagkasya sa pagiging facilitator sa first half, nag-init si June Mar Fajardo sa second half at tumapos na may 21 points na sinamahan ng 8 rebounds at 4 assists habang nagdagdag si CJ Perez ng 13 points, siyam ay mula sa final canto.

Umiskor si Steve Taylor ng 20 points at kumalawit din ng game-highs na 18 boards at 9 assists upang pangunahan ang Rain or Shine. Subalit nagtala lamang siya ng 1-of-8 mula sa field sa second half at naputol ang two-game winning streak ng E-Painters upang mahulog sa 2-2 kartada.
