(Inaasahan ng PEZA) INVESTMENTS PA MULA SA TAIWAN

TARGET ng Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) na makaakit pa ng maraming investments mula sa Taiwan sa paglagda sa bilateral investment agreement at sa New Southbound Trade Treaty sa pagitan ng dalawang ekonomiya.

Sinabi ni PEZA deputy director general Tereso Panga sa kanyang personal social media account nitong Miyerkoles na umaasa ang investment promotion agency na mapanatili ang Taiwan bilang isa sa topmost investors sa PEZA.

Idinaos ng PEZA ang Global Biz noong Martes na dinaluhan nina PEZA director general Charito Plaza, Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) at Resident Representative to Taiwan Wilfredo Beltran Fernandez, at Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) Head of Mission Michael Peiyung Hsu.

“Given Taiwan’s status as the 7th largest economy in Asia and 20th largest in the world by purchasing power parity certainly, the Philippines will benefit from its increased economic cooperation with Taiwan,” ani Panga.

Idinagdag niya na ang Taiwan ay may competitive manufacturing sector lalo na sa electronics, machinery, at petrochemicals, gayundin sa energy at information and communications technology, na maaari nilang palawakin sa Pilipinas.

Ayon sa PEZA official, may 112 Taiwanese enterprises ang nakarehistro sa PEZA.

Ang kanilang total investments ay nagkakahalagang PHP32.3 billion, at lumikha ng halos 40,000 trabaho para sa mga Pilipino.

Kabilang sa top Taiwanese investors sa PEZA ang Sunon Properties na may PHP4.5 billion investments;  Tong Shing Electronics, PHP2.9 billion investments; Kinpo Electronics na may PHP2.1 billion investments; at ang affiliate company nito na Acbel Polytech, PHP1.7 billion investments.

“With the CREATE (Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises Act) investment and tax incentives in place, PEZA aims to target strategic and high-tech industries from Taiwan that will provide for ecozone product sophistication, export diversification, labor-intensive and high-skilled jobs, knowledge transfer, enhanced local supply chain, and creation of industry clusters,” ani Panga PNA
