PATULOY na pinatutunayan ni pole vault champion EJ Obiena na isa siya sa maaaring makapagbigay ng kauna-unahang ginto ng bansa sa Olympics.

Si Obiena ay umakyat ng apat na puwesto sa latest update ng World Athletics Men’s Pole Vault Rankings, kung saan kasalukuyan siyang nasa No. 6.

Dati siyang nasa No. 10, na kanyang natamo noong nakaraang taon.

Ang Pinoy ay angat ng isang puwesto kay 2016 Olympic champion Thiago Braz ng Brazil, na nasa No. 7, habang nananatili sa unang puwesto si Armand Duplantis ng Sweden.

Ang 25-anyos na si  Obiena ay kabilang sa 19 Filipino athletes na sasabak sa Tokyo Games, na gaganapin sa July 23 hanggang August 8.
