MAS mataas ng 44% ang inilaan ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM) sa Department of Education ( DepEd) sa kanilang 2024 National Expenditure Progrtam para sa maayos na education facilities at learning materials.
Sinabi ni DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman na ang DepEd ay tatanggap ng P33.755 billion para sa 2024 budget at mas mataas ito kumpara sa kasalukuyang P23.417 billion.
“Through revitalized education, I aspire to provide every Filipino with a fighting chance to manage life’s uncertainties so they can choose to achieve their full potential,” ani Pangandaman.
Ang nasabing programa ay nakapokus sa siyam na areas gaya ng construction ng 7,879 new classrooms at technical vocational laboratories; repair and rehabilitation ng 10,050 classrooms; procurement ng 21,557 sets of school desks, furniture, at fixtures; electrification of 432 classrooms; at construction ng 333 priority school health facilities, three medium-rise school buildings, 72 library hubs, 16 Special Needs Education (SNED)- Inclusive Learning Resource Centers (ILRCs), at apat na four Alternative Learning System (ALS) – Community Learning Centers (CLCs).
Habang bubuhusan ng P3.4 bilyon ang iba’t ibang infrastructure projects ng State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).
Magugunitang sa isang talumpati ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ay sinabi nitong hangad niyang ma-improve ang lahat ng education facilities para sa maayos na learning environment lalo na ang mga malalayong lugar.
“Improving education facilities is essential for creating a conducive learning environment for all learners, including those in remote and hard-to-reach areas,” bahagi ng mensahe ni Pangulong Marcos sa DBM.
Samantala, para suportahan ang DepEd agenda, naglaan din ang DBM ng P12 billion para sa textbooks at iba pang instructional materials, kasama na ang learning packages, resources for library hubs, at printed materials na naka-align para sa bagong curriculum para sa Kinder at Grades 1, 4, and 7.
Gayundin ang dagdag na P3.9 billion para naman sa pagbili ng learning tools at equipment, kasama ang science at mathematics equipment gayundin ang technical vocational at livelihood equipment.
Naglaan din ng P8.9 billin para sa Computerization Program na pambili sa learning cart packages, laptops para sa mga guro at non-teaching personnel, at iba’t ibang ICT equipment para sa pagpatatag ng MATATAG Center sa 2024.
